Terms of Service

Last updated: August 2026

Agreement to Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of High Shelf (the "App" or "Service"), operated by the High Shelf team ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

What High Shelf Does

High Shelf lets you track, rate, and review movies, TV shows, books, video games, and music, and optionally share that activity with other users you follow. The free version may show ads served through Google AdMob/AdSense. A High Shelf Pro subscription removes ads and unlocks additional features such as advanced stats, library export, and taste comparison with friends — see the Privacy Policy for details on advertising and tracking.

Eligibility & Accounts

Your Content

You keep ownership of anything you post — reviews, ratings, lists, quotes, comments, and your profile photo. By posting it, you give us a limited license to store, display, and distribute that content within the App (for example, showing your review to people who follow you, or on a public list you create).

You're responsible for what you post. Don't post anything that is illegal, infringes someone else's rights, harasses other users, or contains spoilers without using the spoiler tag where the App provides one.

You can mark individual entries as private, which keeps them out of feeds, other users' stats, and search — see the Privacy Policy for how that works.

Acceptable Use

Please don't:

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

Content Moderation & Reporting

We have zero tolerance for harassment, hate speech, and other abusive behavior. If you come across content or a user that violates these Terms, you can report it directly in the App — most posts, lists, reviews, comments, and user profiles have a "Report" option — and you can block or mute any user from their profile at any time.

We review reports and take whatever action we consider appropriate, which may include removing content or suspending or terminating an account, at our discretion.

Subscriptions & Billing

Paid subscriptions are billed and managed through the app store you downloaded High Shelf from (for example, the Apple App Store). Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your app store account settings — we don't have access to cancel or refund purchases directly.

Third-Party Content & Services

High Shelf displays metadata (titles, artwork, descriptions) from third-party sources such as TMDB, Google Books, IGDB, and Last.fm. We don't control that data and aren't responsible for its accuracy. Use of the App also relies on services like Supabase (data hosting) and RevenueCat (subscriptions) — see the Privacy Policy for details.

Disclaimers

High Shelf is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. We do our best to keep the App accurate and available, but we don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any particular data (ratings, metadata, stats) will always be complete or correct.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, High Shelf and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including loss of data. Our total liability for any claim relating to the App is limited to the amount you paid us, if any, in the 12 months before the claim arose.

Termination

You can stop using the App and delete your account at any time (Settings → Delete Account). We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms. On deletion, your data is removed per the Privacy Policy.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll update the date at the top of this page when we do. Continued use of the App after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
